AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca is expected to change up his team against for tonight’s Champions League game against Slovan Bratislava, presenting a chance to Noah Okafor.
As Calciomercato.com report, the game in the Slovakian capital is one that Milan simply have to win. It is not just because of the stuttering league form that saw the team booed off after a draw against Juventus, but also due to the situation in the Champions League.
Milan begin the second half of the new league phase with a game against a team that have lost all four games and have conceded 15 goals so far. After that, matches against Red Star, Girona and Dinamo Zagreb follow, so 12 points and direct qualification to the last 16 must be the target.
The surprise news is that we should see Okafor from the first minute, after three consecutive games – versus Real Madrid, Cagliari and Juventus – in which he began on the bench. The Swiss has trained well in recent days with a special motivation to do well in his first UCL start.
What that means is that Rafael Leao will remain out, mostly as a precaution after the knock he took against Juventus. The coach did imply that the Portuguese winger was not at 100% and he also has to think about Saturday’s match against Empoli.
Okafor so far has just one goal to his name this season in addition to one assist, and the goal came in round one against Torino. It would be a good time to return to scoring.
