It is one of the most cult mangas of all time. Imagined by Tsukasa Hōjō and pre-published in the Weekly Shōnen Jump between 1981 and 1985, Cat’s Eye has seen numerous animated and live-action adaptations. The latest one? The French series Cat’s Eyesproduced in collaboration with Prime Video and broadcast on TF1 since November 11, 2024. Created by Michel Catz (Love at first sight in Andalusia) and worn by actresses Camille Lou (The Fighters), Constance Labbé (Balthazar) and Claire Romain (Here it all begins), the show looked very promising, even before its broadcast.

Indeed, TF1 has deployed colossal resources, releasing a budget of 25 million euros for its development. In a press release, the channel indicated that its series had confirmed its “very successful” a week after its launch, bringing together 6.7 million viewers for its first episode (to which are added the 1.6 million who watched it delayed), and thus marking “the record of the year for a French fiction outside HPI ».

An adventure in several acts

This new adaptation traces theorigin story of the three thieving sisters, and transposes the action to present day, in . We therefore find Tam, Syl and Alex in the streets of the capital, sometimes caught in a chase in the heart of the Eiffel Tower, sometimes hatching a plan to escape the police.

Present during all stages of the creation of the show, the mangaka Tsukasa Hōjō confided in an interview (available in the TF1 press kit) that the objective of this production was not “not to make a direct link, but on the contrary to find your own identity to reach people”. “In this case, I think this series has succeeded in doing that perfectly,” he concludes.

Over the weeks, the three sisters managed to create a community of fans. Attentive to each broadcast, they wonder: will their favorite show have a second season? In an article published in November 2023, 7 Days had invited himself to the set of the production and already revealed that the three main actresses had signed for three seasons.

No information has been released regarding the second salvo, but Numerama believes that “Tam, Alexia and Sylia could only return at the very end of 2025 or early 2026, at the earliest,” and that “the three sisters of Cat’s Eyes should accompany us, at least, until 2028.” One thing is certain: they have not finished taking us on their adventures.
