In his latest book, entitled The Carnival of the Ambitious (Éditions Xo), Patrick Sébastien reveals himself. The former star presenter of France 2 confides in particular about his old alcohol problems, he who was subject to an addiction to whiskey in his youth, “up to 1.5 liters per day”, as he recounts during the arrival on the set of At Jordan de Luxe this Tuesday, November 26 on C8.
Patrick Sébastien talks about his old alcohol problems
During his interview, Patrick Sébastien spoke uncompromisingly about his relationship with alcohol and the way he fought his addiction: “Drinking in moderation also means drinking with pleasure. Today, I drink a glass of wine at the table from time to time. I replaced quantity with quality. The problem is that you don't notice it. There's nothing worse than a guy who tells you: “But no, I'm not an alcoholic.”“Faced with his declining health, Patrick Sébastien had no other choice but to pull himself together:”At one point I said to myself, “This isn’t right. » I stood up, I trembled…“
“It does tremendous damage“, continues Patrick Sébastien, who had decided to completely wean himself off. “I had to call the doctor in the morning because things weren't going well. At one point, I said stop. On my birthday, I took my last glass, spilled it, and said, “For two years, I don’t even touch a drop of wine.” » Carlos told me one day, and he is right: “When we drink, we have excuses and if we don't have any, we make them up. » It was a very nice sentence. On the other hand, I can't stand drunk people anymore. But I understand them, because at some point, people have to escape.“
Patrick Sébastien's rant
Patrick Sébastien concluded his speech by making a rant about the public authorities, who, according to him, are not taking care of the fight against other addictions, in particular drugs: “What annoys me a little more in today's society is that you have campaigns against tobacco, against alcohol, but on the other hand, against drugs, I don't see many. In all TV films, the line is obligatory, it's a fashion. It pisses me off, because they don't realize how much this is destroying our society.”
