Questioned by BFMTV, Brigitte Macon spoke this Monday, November 25 on the Mazan rape trial which has been taking place before the Vaucluse criminal court in Avignon since the beginning of September. On this international day for the elimination of violence against women, the wife of the President of the Republic affirmed that “this trial was essential”.
She added, regarding this extraordinary case, in which Dominique Pelicot appeared alongside 50 other accused for having drugged for ten years and had his wife raped by dozens of men: “Things had to be said and they are.” Brigitte Macron wanted to provide her “unconditional support to all women”… Before concluding: “I want to tell them to what extent the president and I stand in solidarity with them and we will help them as much as possible. We have to be there and be vigilant. »

While the trial entered its home stretch yesterday with the start of requisitions, Prime Minister Michel Barnier also announced measures to fight against chemical submission with the launch, on an experimental basis, of reimbursement by Health Insurance detection kits. Remember that the attorneys general requested, Monday morning, the maximum sentence against Dominique Pelicot, i.e. 20 years of criminal imprisonment.
