Zero tolerance against any hint of gender violence in Castilla y León. This is what was claimed, unanimously, in the multiple events held throughout the entire region, from institutional ones, until in the afternoon with the demonstrations in the most central streets of the main capitals of the community.
The Segovia Provincial Council has opted for the fight against sexual violence in the digital environment as a focus in its 25-N institutional campaign. Its president, Miguel Ángel de Vicente, headed the central event, while a digital “escape room” was presented, to promote advances in the educational and affective-sexual area and combat cultural and social stereotypes.
At the Valladolid City Council, in an event chaired by Mayor Jesús Julio Carnero, the scourge of violence against women was denounced and a message of hope was launched in which no woman feels alone. In the morning the Popular Group left its government partner Vox alone to reject its amendments to a Valladolid Take the Word motion and support a PSOE initiative related to sexist violence.
And the Plaza Mayor of Palencia was the scene of the reading of the manifesto where a call was made for the shared responsibility of society.
The CSIF union has also mobilized this International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with rallies and minutes of silence in its provincial headquarters with the motto “Everything for all”, to emphasize the importance of using all possible resources to help in the fight against gender violence.
And from the Autonomous Committee of Entities of Representatives of People with Disabilities in Castilla y León (CERMI CyL), in collaboration with the General Directorate of Women of the Government of Castilla y León, has launched the campaign 'I am also a woman' , to make visible, raise awareness and fight against gender violence exercised against women with disabilities and demand that their reality stops being invisible by society.
In Zamora, the institutional event that took place this afternoon brought together around 150 people in the Plaza Mayor, where the Vox councilors were separated from the concentration.
The rally, in which a bookseller and a teacher read the FEMP statement on the occasion of 25N, was attended, among other authorities, by the mayor of Zamora, Francisco Guarido; the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment of the Government of Castilla y León, Leticia García; or the second vice president of the Cortes of Castilla y León, Ana Sánchez.
In Ávila, fifty people have gathered in the Mercado Chico square, convened by the City Council, whose mayor, Jesús Manuel Sánchez Cabrera, has led a concentration that has been attended by a good part of the corporation, except the councilors of Vox.
And Benavente (Zamora) has a new mural against violence against women, inaugurated as part of the 25N events and made on the façade of the Youth Information Point.
The mural, the work of Ángela Ramos, an artist from La Torre del Valle, was inaugurated today by the mayor of Benavente, Beatriz Asensio, together with councilors from the Government team, representatives of the 'New Ideas' Women's Association and the first sergeant of the Zamora Civil Guard Command, Ana Katia Pérez, who is also a member of the Equality and Diversity Commission.
