Invited in a show alongside Kendji Girac this weekend, Dany Boon dared to make a joke concerning the shooting which almost cost the singer his life.
Invited this weekend to “A Sunday in the Country” on France TV, Dany Boon and Kendji Girac lent themselves to the traditional intimate confessions of the show. As far as he is concerned, Kendji Girac chose to give a touching testimony about his gunshot wound that occurred last April. The host then presented the cover of his latest album, an opus marking his return to the forefront with the very symbolic title: “Live”.
“A nice response after the tragedy”, underlined Frédéric Lopez, before Dany Boon bounced back. “Ah, yes, after what happened, of course. Well, there will be no selection for the Olympic Games in shooting, what…”, dared the comedian, taking by surprise Kendji Girac who retorted with self-deprecation: “Anyway, I don't know shoot, so it’s okay,” words that made all the guests burst into laughter.
The procedure dismissed
For (sad) memory, Kendji Girac was hospitalized on April 22, 2024 near Bordeaux, for a serious gunshot wound to the chest. According to analyses, he was heavily alcoholic, at more than 2.5 grams per liter of blood, and had consumed cocaine during a night of partying. The singer initially claimed to have wanted to “fake a suicide” after a domestic dispute, but later changed his version.
Given his alcoholism and his cocaine intake, “he was not aware of what he was doing with this weapon and he did not want to put pressure on his partner”, indicated in Mont-de-Marsan the public prosecutor Olivier Janson, who confirmed that the shooting had been provoked “voluntarily” by the singer, dismissing the procedure.
