The 58-year-old actor, who left the series broadcast on TMC a few months ago, was not kind to the character he wore for 32 years.
On December 19, 2023, Philippe Vasseur announced on his social networks that he had decided to leave The Mysteries of Love . “I put aside projects that I have had for years and that I want to carry out. I'll try, we'll see. I'm going to live my life”explained the interpreter of José, a role he played for 32 years. “It’s not nothing, it’s strong”he specified.
Since then, the 58-year-old actor has ended his contract with AB Productions and has chosen to devote himself fully to his relief paintings. Passion that he exercises in Cayeux-sur-Mer, south of the Bay of Somme, where he grew up and where he has a house. “I’ve lived here since 2007, I retyped everything”he emphasized to our colleague from Courrier Picard which he received.

According to him, if José resembles him, it is because he brought him his “bullshit”. “Because I was in fact a plant that was placed behind a keyboard, I didn’t really have a defined role”he stressed. Despite his criticism, Philippe Vasseur felt that his character was the most interesting role to play and would not have wanted to have another.
