Cristian Seidler announced on Monday morning that Elena Lasconi, USR candidate in the presidential elections, entered the second round, according to the parallel counting done by the Union Save Romania formation.
“According to the parallel counting carried out by the USR, Romania has the chance for a new beginning because Elena Lasconi entered the second round of the presidential elections with an advance of several thousand votes over the PSD candidate, Marcel Ciolacu. We make a public appeal to Marcel Ciolacu to make the democratic gesture of admitting his defeat,” said Cristian Seidler, Elena Lasconi's campaign coordinator.
At the time of writing this news, Elena Lasconi leads with a difference of 70 votes, according to the partial results provided in real time by the AEP website. It is the first time that the USR leader overtakes the head of the PSD.

The former president of USR, Cătălin Drula, declared that every vote mattered and made the difference.
“After a long night with a wonderful team in which I was in permanent contact with the people in the polling stations, with USR delegates. I want to thank those who voted for Elena Lasconi, the Romanians in the country and in the Diaspora, the Romanians who mobilized until the last moment of the voting schedule, taking us to the time zones of North America, ten hours away of Romania, every vote counted and every vote made a difference. It is a result that obliges us and on the basis of which we will continue to build”, said Drula.
