Thanks to a very good first period, Stade Français dominated its Ile-de- rival, Racing 92 (40-24), this Sunday evening during the closing match of the 10th day of the Top 14.

After eight successes in a row on the Stade Français pitch, Racing 92 saw its series which began in 2019 come to an end five years later. Paul Gustard's team, author of a successful first period, defeated its Ile-de-France rival (40-24) this Sunday evening on the lawn of the Jean-Bouin stadium at the end of the 10th day of the Top 14. It took six minutes at Stade Français to score their first points in this derby. At the end of a big sequence for the Parisians, Jérémy Ward served Lester Etien as soon as he received the ball. The winger then faked Henry Arundell before throwing himself into the goal. A first try not converted by Louis Carbonel then Lester Etien, touched while flattening the ball, had to be replaced. Dan Lancaster converted a penalty (18th) to unlock the Racing counter but the Ile-de-France rival decided to shift into higher gear in the last ten minutes of the first period. Having returned to the field in the meantime, Ester Etien scored a double by finishing in style an offensive initiated by Louis Carbonel, who moved to the left side after having passed Romain Briatte (33rd). It was then Joe Marchant (39th), still on the left, and Jérémy Ward (41st), after a full axis breakthrough from Brad Weber from his camp, who each added five points. Tries transformed by Louis Carbonel and allowing the residents of the Jean-Bouin stadium to largely lead at half-time, with a score of 26-3.

Racing misses defensive bonus point

Joe Jonas (58th) and Peniasi Dakuwaqa (60th) also made Racing bite the dust by scoring the fifth and sixth tries for their team, which then led 40-3 after the transformations of Louis Carbonel. The moment was then chosen by the Racingmen to cross the goal line for the first time through Feleti Kaitu'u in force (64th). The Australian hooker scored twice straight away (70th) and the gap in the score narrowed (40-17). Racing stood out at the end of the match by scoring a third try by Cameron Woki (75th) while Stade Français had just received a red card, given to Juan John Van der Mescht for a high tackle. The scoreboard then read 40-24 and Stuart Lancaster's players had to score a fourth try to pocket the defensive bonus point. This never happened. Racing 92 can regret having been overwhelmed in the first half. Stade Français has a third success in a row at home. He moves to 10th in the ranking, three lengths from his opponent of the day, 8th.
