Storm Caetano: several thousand heavy goods vehicles blocked on the highways
Snow continues to impact traffic on French roads. Thousands of trucks have been blocked on the highways, while Météo France fears a new freeze.
Trucks in single file. Several thousand heavy goods vehicles were blocked on the A36 motorway towards Besançon (Doubs) on the afternoon of Friday November 22. They had to spend the night in their cabins, due to 15 cm of snow which stopped traffic. Saadia Tamelikecht, chief of staff of the prefect of Doubs, regrets the non-compliance instructions.
In Normandy, on the A28, truck drivers also found themselves trapped by the snow. They regret the lack of information from local authorities. Between Caen and Rouen, more than a thousand heavy goods vehicles were also blockedthis time due to a truck crossing. Traffic bans have been lifted for Franche-Comté and Normandy. However, Météo France warns of a risk of refreezing.
