Two extremes. This Thursday, in London (United Kingdom), Guinness World Records organized a meeting between the smallest woman in the world, Jyoti Amge, and the tallest, Rumeysa Gelgi. One hundred and fifty-three centimeters separate them. The two women met over tea on the occasion of the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day, reports The Independent.
Rumeysa Gelgi, at 2.15 m tall, was named the tallest woman in the world in October 2021. The Turk owes her tall height to a disease: Weaver syndrome. The latter leads in particular to accelerated growth, as well as craniofacial, neurological and limb abnormalities. Now aged 27, the young woman, who works as a web developer, is unable to stand up alone. She must get around in a wheelchair or with a walker.

At 62.8 cm, Jyoti Amge is the smallest woman in the world. This 30-year-old Indian woman suffers from achondroplasia, a bone disease that keeps her body the size of a four-month-old baby.
