Olivier Paz, mayor of Merville-Franceville-Plage (Calvados), chairs the Union of Mayors of Calvados and participated, from November 19 to 21, 2024, in the Congress of Mayors of France.
In what state of mind did you approach this congress?
With quite a bit of concern because the measures that were announced had nothing comparable in the past, it was very violent. I also approached it with determination because elected officials are tired of being singled out by a State which, itself, is not capable of keeping accounts. The more the State wants to take from our revenues, the less it imposes strict rules on itself to rebalance its budget.
