The remaining seven candidates Best Pastry Chef faced a daring theme this Thursday, November 21, 2024: trompe-l'oeil. The show pushed the limits of pastry creativity, between spectacular challenges and moments rich in emotion. To the point of losing ground for some!

A surprise guest

For the creative test, the amateur pastry chefs had to create trompe-l'oeil inspired by objects present in the tent. Box of eggs, pot of flour, drawer or even flower pot have come to life in the form of stunning pastries. Tsiory particularly impressed Mercotte with his cabinet drawers, so realistic they looked like they came from a cabinetmaking workshop. José, for his part, seduced with his pot as real as nature, while Thimothée and Laurène had more difficulty convincing.

The technical test, orchestrated by a master of the genre, pushed the candidates to create a complex illusion dessert, requiring flawless attention to detail. The episode culminated with the surprise test, where the candidates had to compete with Thibault, a trompe-l'oeil specialist revealed during the previous season. The mission? Create a trompe-l'oeil fruit, more convincing than that of the emblematic candidate. The prize: a golden cupcake, a symbol of perfection. Only Laurène was able to match the artistic and technical standards, winning this coveted award.

A blue apron for Tsiory, but a moving elimination

At the time of the verdict, Cyril Lignac and Mercotte praised the exceptional performance of Tsiory, who won his blue apron this week. “It’s my second blue apron, it’s quite unexpected, I join José in this table”, he confided with emotion. But each week also brings its share of departures, and it was Romain, with his sparkling humor, who had to leave the competition. “The adventure ends in the seventh week of the competition and I didn't think I would make it until the seventh week, half of the adventure. It was for nothing. My classmates were stronger and I finished this week in giving them the illusion that I'm leaving”he said with a touch of wit.
