Yellow warning for snow and ice in Côtes-d'Armor – News

Updated on 21/11/2024

The Côtes-d'Armor department is placed on snow-ice yellow vigilance this Thursday, November 21, from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The prefect of Côtes-d'Armor calls on every citizen to exercise the greatest vigilance and caution, particularly road users.

The circulation of vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes is once again authorized on all roads in Côtes-d'Armor.

However, in order to ensure everyone's safety, measures restricting the movement of heavy goods vehicles only have been taken and are applicable in the department:
– lowering of the maximum authorized speed by 20 km/h

– ban on overtaking on the national and motorway network and on the secondary network (departmental and municipal).

These limitations and bans will be lifted when traffic conditions return to normal.

The prefect, in conjunction with operational services, road managers and mayors, remains vigilant as the situation evolves.

REMINDER OF BEHAVIORAL INSTRUCTIONS

• Be careful and vigilant if you absolutely have to travel;

• Choose public transport and prefer main roads;

• Find out about traffic conditions on the Bison Futé website, https://www.bison-fute.gouv.fr/;

• Prepare your trip and your itinerary. Provide emergency lighting and a reserve of drinking water in the event of prolonged immobilization. Also take warm clothes, blankets and food;

• Respect the traffic restrictions and diversions put in place;

• Facilitate the passage of road and highway clearing equipment, in particular by parking your vehicle outside the traffic lanes;

• Protect yourself from falls and protect others by clearing the snow and salting the sidewalks in front of your home, while avoiding obstructing water drains;

• Under no circumstances touch electrical wires that have fallen to the ground;

• It is essential to install generators outside buildings;

• Do not use appliances not intended for this purpose for heating: stoves, braziers, etc. and continuous combustion auxiliary heaters. These devices should only operate intermittently.

Follow developments in the situation on the prefecture's Facebook and X accounts and on the Météo- website: https://vigilance.meteofrance.fr/fr.
