It’s still fall, but winter weather is coming to Greater Cincinnati.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday. The advisory is in place for Hamilton, Clermont, Butler, and Warren counties in Ohio and Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties in Kentucky.
Snow is expected during this time, with light accumulations possible, especially on grassy areas, bridges and overpasses.
Snow showers Thursday morning will reduce visibilities at times but warm ground temperatures will limit impacts on roadways. More widespread snow is expected late Thursday afternoon into the night. Slippery road conditions will likely impact the Thursday evening commute.
Make sure to slow down and use caution when driving.
Cooler temperatures are forecast for Thursday with highs in the mid-30s northwest to 40 over the southeast. Overnight lows will fall to the mid-20s to around 30. West winds with gusts of up to 30 mph are likely to occur.
A mix of rain and snow showers will return Friday before changing to all rain as low-level temperatures warm up. Temperatures will still be below normal on Friday, with highs in the lower to mid-40s.
Dry conditions and seasonably average temperatures return for the weekend as high pressure builds into the region. The next chance for precipitation will be on Monday.
When will it snow in Cincinnati?
Snow is expected to hit Greater Cincinnati on Thursday with total accumulations of one to two inches, especially on grassy areas and overpasses. Snowfall may affect the Thursday evening commute.
Per the hourly weather forecast, snow is likely to start at 7 a.m. Thursday and fall off and off until 2 a.m. on Friday. The greatest likelihood of snowfall will occur between 6 and 8 p.m.
More snowfall may occur between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday.
