An accident between two heavy goods vehicles near Phalempin (North) causes significant traffic problems on Thursday, November 21 on the A1 motorway, announced the Northern prefecture, in the direction of Lille.
The accident took place around 3:15 a.m. on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. 4km after interchange 17 towards Lille, on the road between Hénin-Beaumont (Pas-de-Calais) and the Lille metropolis, two heavy goods vehicles collided. The right lane and the middle lane are neutralized.
As a result, a 17 km traffic jam formed upstream. It takes more than 3.5 hours this Thursday morning to reach the Lille metropolis, warns France Bleu Nord. Repercussions are also underway on the A21 at the Dourges junction in both directions of traffic.
According to the Pas-de-Calais firefighters contacted by France Bleu Nord, one of the drivers involved in the collision was stuck in his cabin. The firefighters used their extrication equipment to free him from the sheets. The accident caused two minor injuries. One, aged 25, was transported to Seclin hospital, the other, aged 45, was sent to Lille University Hospital.
