Snow has already fallen in some parts of the country, making roads more slippery. The Royal Meteorological Institute warns of these conditions which will worsen in the coming hours.
The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) has issued a yellow warning for slippery conditions overnight from Wednesday to Thursday for all provinces of the country, with the exception of West Flanders, it said on Wednesday. On the Route des Fagnes, a few slips and collisions were already noted this Wednesday afternoon.
The warning will come into effect on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. and will apply until Thursday at 6:00 a.m. For East Flanders and Hainaut, this warning will come into force at 03:00 a.m., and will be valid until 08:00 a.m. Thursday
This evening and next night, showers of sleet or sometimes snow will affect the north, northeast and center of the country. A small temporary accumulation will be locally possible in these regions.
At the end of the night, the sky will clear and temperatures will drop to around 0 degrees. Patches of ice may form locally and make roads slippery in these regions.
