On Wednesday night, a strong storm hit the canton of Bern. Wind peaks of 70 to 90 km/h were measured in the lowlands. A storm with hurricane-force winds was raging on the mountains.
The strongest gust was measured at 150 kilometers per hour on the Jungfraujoch, as the weather service Meteonews wrote on X on Wednesday. On the Bantiger near Bern it was storming at 112 km/h. In Thun the storm peaks were 105 km/h.

The Bern cantonal police received 34 reports of the storm between Tuesday evening at 6:15 p.m. and Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. These were mainly reports of fallen trees and construction site barriers or broken branches that were blocking roads.
Most reports came from the Bernese Oberland and the Bernese Jura/Seeland with 15 and 11 reports respectively. There were four reports each in the Mittelland and Oberaargau/Emmental, as a spokeswoman for the cantonal police said upon request. Nothing is currently known about any injuries.
