On Wednesday evening there was a fire in a building at the former zoo John’s Little Farm in Kallnach.

The zoo’s board of directors and the police confirm an operation because of the fire, but neither can provide any further information yet.

The area was cordoned off and the fire brigade was quickly on site, as the Kallnach fire brigade base is only a stone’s throw away from the fire.

Apparently the building had already burned to the ground, as the old timbers of the house quickly spread the fire. The house dates from 1860 and is currently for sale – along with the rest of the zoo grounds.

There were no more animals on site. John’s little farm is closed since mid-August. The closure of the zoo was preceded by a long and bitter battle between the operators.
