CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Wednesday and Thursday are First Alert Days due to rain and gusty winds followed by much colder temperatures and the season’s first snowfall, according to the FOX19 NOW First Alert Weather Team.
Snowfall totals could be up to 1″ for many areas, while those to the north and west of Cincinnati could get 2″, the weather team says.
Most of the snow will melt on impact, leaving roads wet.
Wednesday
Rain is expected between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
These will be scattered showers – nothing heavy, according to the weather team.
Winds will increase Wednesday afternoon and evening, gusting up to 25 to 35 mph.
A passing shower will keep roads wet late Wednesday.
Temperatures will plummet overnight into the 30s but remain above freezing.
The change in temperature will allow for precipitation to change from rain to snow, the FOX19 NOW First Alert Weather Team says.
Thursday
Snow will come in two waves, according to the FOX19 NOW Weather Team.
Once in the morning as a wintry mix with rain between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Roads will be just wet. Pavement temperatures are too warm for freezing, the weather team says.
Temperatures will be in the 30s with wind chills in the 20s all day.
Winds will again be strong with gusts of 40 to 45 mph.
The second round of snow will be steady and all wet snow from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to the weather team.
Some slushy snow accumulations will be possible late Thursday night, mainly on elevated and grassy surfaces.
Drier air will move into the Tri-State behind this system Thursday night into early Friday.
Here’s the latest anticipated snowfall totals:
Friday
Drizzle and/or snow flurries are possible on Friday with cloudy conditions.
Temperatures will remain below normal with highs in the low-to-mid-40s.
Due to the wind chill, it will feel much colder and as low as 19 degrees to 27 degrees in some areas.
The weekend will be dry with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40s Saturday before rising into the 50s for the start of Thanksgiving week.
