After criticism: Messi facing record theft
What do Landon Donovan and Lionel Messi have in common? Sure, they are or were both professional footballers. Messi now has 58 assists. Only Donovan, who ended his career five years ago after 157 international matches for the USA, is on a par with him.

Curious: Just last week, the former Bayern professional publicly criticized Messi in the ‘Unfiltered Soccer’ podcast after Inter Miami’s elimination. He didn’t like the Argentine’s behavior after the defeat. Messi once again responded on the pitch and will finally take away the 42-year-old’s assist record sooner or later.
