Cold winds arriving directly from the icy Arctic Circle will begin to blow in our country in the next few days, to be precise starting from Wednesday 20 November: these currents will cause a drop in temperatures, but also rain and snowfall towards the northern plains.
EVOLUTION: DOUBLE VORTEX COMING SOON
In reality, in the next few days, our country will be affected by the transit of well two depression vortices.
Il first vortexcurrently located over Germany, will convey a moderate disturbance which will move rapidly towards Italy on the day of Wednesday 20 November.
Il second vortexscheduled for Thursday 21 Novemberwill follow a similar trajectory, causing even more marked worsening of the weather. These two episodes will be the causes of a phase characterized by rain, gale force winds and a progressive drop in temperatures.
Wednesday 20 November the weather context will already be very unstable.
All North, snowfall will affect the border Alps above the 800 meters, with the sky appearing everywhere very cloudy or overcast. In the afternoon, the Mistral will sweep away part of the cloud cover, while the winds will initially stormy ones of Libeccio on the Ligurian Sea, they will calm down in the evening.
In the Center and in Sardinia, the decrease in pressure will cause at times stormy winds and sea storms along the Tyrrhenian coastswith waves that can surpass even the 5 meters. Moderate intensity rain will then affect on Tuscany, Lazio, Umbria and in some sections of the Marchewhile Sardinia will experience more irregular rainfall.
Finally, in the South, the Libeccio will cause instability on the Campania and on Calabria Tyrrhenian Sea, where they are expected rains and thunderstorms. In the rest of the South the weather will be drier, with variable skies and sunny spells, especially in Sicily.
Thursday 21 November we will be dealing with the second vortex, accompanied by much colder air. In the first part of the day the Mistral will cause showers in the lower Tyrrhenian Sea, but will be quickly replaced by a strong Scirocco, which will cause widespread worsening.
In the North, the cold will likely cause snow episodes which may also affect some sections of the upper Po Valley in particular the western sectors, a clear sign of the incoming arctic air.
In the Centre-South, the rains will intensify especially on the Tyrrhenian side, while in the Apennines the snow, at times heavy, will fall at variable altitudes, making the day particularly disturbed.
In the North, after residual rainfall in the eastern sectors in the early morning, the weather will tend to improve everywhere, but leaving room for the cold: in fact, these are expected intense night frosts across the entire western Po Valley in the hours close to dawn.
In the central-southern regions, rainfall will continue to be abundant, particularly on the Tyrrhenian side, with neve on the Apennines at altitudes between 900 and 1500 meterswhile rains and thunderstorms will affect much of the territory.
