Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni sent a warning to his players who won the 2024 Copa America title.
“Now we need the players to play (for their clubs),” Scaloni said in a press conference before facing Peru in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
He added: “In the last six matches after winning the Copa America, we decided to rely on the names that won us the title, and we did not have enough time to give other players the opportunity.”

However, it seems that this warning will not affect Lionel Messi, who will not play any official match with Inter Miami until the beginning of 2025 (the start of the new season), after his team leaves the American League.
Regarding this, Scaloni explained: “Messi’s condition is completely different. He is always playing, and I might say that he needs to rest sometimes, but we do not think about it more than that. The most important thing is for the players to continue playing.”
