Emir Kir wants to lodge an appeal against the invalidation of the elections in Saint-Josse: “Our commune is disturbing”

Three lists lodged an appeal with the jurisdictional college which chose to invalidate the result of the elections in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. “Clearly, Saint-Josse is disturbing. Because we are the most left-wing municipality in the whole country,” said the outgoing mayor, Emir Kir.

The outgoing mayor of the commune of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Emir Kir, who emerged victorious in the elections on October 13 in his commune, is studying all possible avenues of appeal following the decision of the jurisdictional college to invalidate the local elections, he said Tuesday afternoon. Without talking about political manipulation, the outgoing mayor expresses his astonishment. “I think it’s a little big.”replied Emir Kir who mentioned the people behind the contestation of the election results. “Obviously, the commune of Saint-Josse is disturbing. It is disturbing because it is the most left-wing commune in the country. Among the opponents, they are people who claim to be left-wing. But which left?”asked Emir Kir.

In a speech given at Place Howaert in Saint-Josse, the mayor reminded the citizens who came to listen to him. “The jurisdictional college is a political college. In Saint-Josse, as in other municipalities, we have already had to deal with them. But this time, I see a lot of determination. Let us never forget that the college is designated by the Brussels parliament. They are not judges or members of the judiciary.he indicated.

“Irregularities” noted in Saint-Josse

The jurisdictional college of the Brussels-Capital Region invalidated the elections in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode on Tuesday. He noted irregularities in the proxies granted, in sufficient numbers to have modified the distribution of seats to the detriment of opposition groups which had lodged an appeal.

“We are studying all avenues of appeal following the decision of the jurisdictional panel”commented the one who was at the head of the Mayor’s List which came out on top by winning the absolute majority on October 13. “We are confident. Strong from our victory of October 13. Strong from our popular support. Vox populi, Vox Dei…the rest of the story will be written with each of you”he added to the attention of the inhabitants of his commune.
