Guest on the set of “It’s yours” on France 5, Julien Doré lifted the veil on his surprising friendship with Hollywood icon Sharon Stone, born from a chance meeting at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008.
A first meeting between Julien Doré and Sharon Stone in 2008
It all began in 2008, when the young Julien Doré, just out of Nouvelle Star, performed on a beach in Cannes. “I do piano vocal covers. And this evening arrives, no one listens to me. People are drinking, there is a terrible hubbub“, remembers the artist in front of Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine. It is then that Sharon Stone makes her entrance: “She arrives about ten meters away, she turns her face, she sees me […] and she walks towards me, and she sits down on one of the chairs that was there.”
Julien Doré continues his story: “Obviously, other people followed, came to fill the chairs. And at the end, we took a photo, and the next day, this photo was in the Nice Matin. And I was invited on shows, I was lent clothes for… There was something that changed, that made me smile at the time. And I told this story on a program, and she saw it, and she wrote to me on Instagram”.
The only thing the sweaty young artist could have said to Sharon Stone at the time in broken English? “I”m wet like a bottle of water” either “I’m soaked like a bottle of water.”
A beautiful connection that continues between Julien Doré and Sharon Stone
This improbable encounter could have remained a simple anecdote, but fate decided otherwise. Sixteen years later, the two artists come together to give new life to “Paroles, mots”, the legendary hit by Dalida and Alain Delon. “I immediately thought of Sharon“, confides Julien Doré. “This proposal immediately appealed to her. The idea of coming into the studio and recording her voice on this song that she knows well amused her.” adds the artist.
An album of covers between nostalgia and audacity for Julien Doré
“The Imposter”Julien Doré's new opus, marks a turning point in his career. “This is probably the first time since my participation in Nouvelle Star that I have agreed to stop for a moment and look a little over my shoulder”reveals the 42-year-old artist, father of a little boy. In this album, he notably revisits “Hi… Lolita” by Alizée, the title which revealed him to the general public, but also hits like “Sensuality” by Axelle Red or “Mama's eyes” by Kendji Girac, dedicated to his mother.
