– Auchan customers were called upon by the brand to be extremely careful after the theft of certain data.
Tuesday November 19, Auchan was the victim of hacking, as reported by BFMTV. In a few hours, a lot of data was stolen by hackers: names and contact details of customers, number and amount of the loyalty card, family composition… The hundreds of thousands of customers concerned were notified by email by Auchan, according to whom the banking data and passwords, on the other hand, are not affected.
But the stolen information can nevertheless prove valuable to hackers, who are thus able to personalize scam emails encouraging you to click on a fake site and enter their bank card number. Customers have therefore been called upon by the brand to exercise extreme caution. “We have strengthened controls in the event of withdrawal of your loyalty card. We also invite you to be extremely vigilant against the risk of fraudulent emails, SMS or calls.» specifies Auchan in the email sent to its customers.

New case of piracy after Boulanger and Free
This cyberattack is not an isolated case. Recently, the Boulanger brand and the telephone operator Free were also targeted. In the case of Free, three weeks ago, the hackers managed to get their hands on the bank account numbers of tens of thousands of victims. However, the IBAN alone does not allow cybercriminals to debit money, due to the lack of a direct debit mandate signed by the account holder. This November 19, the Paris Judicial Court ordered Telegram to reveal the identity of the hacker responsible for this data theft at Free, so that he can appear before the courts.
