Here’s a familiar tune: hundreds of fans of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and other musicians are suing – again — over concert ticket price gouging.
As reported by Forbes, which accessed a lawsuit filed Friday in a Los Angeles, Live Nation and Ticketmaster both “exploit” a relationship with stadium venues owned by Live Nation to “achieve the purpose of their enterprise,” which requires fans to use Ticketmaster exclusively for tickets “at prices that exceed what a competitive market would dictate.”
Ticketmaster and Live Nation are accused of breach of contract, fraud, negligence, negligent misrepresentation and antitrust violations. The lawsuit marks the latest complaint against the concert giant following a federal antitrust lawsuit filed earlier, according to Forbes.
The latest complaint represents 365 fans and alleges Ticketmaster and Live Nation have engaged in a “pattern of racketeering activity” while violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, according to the magazine.
Neither Ticketmaster nor Live Nation immediately responded to a request for comment from Forbes.
