As the end-of-year holidays approach, vouchers are distributed to local residents to support local businesses, resulting in a saving of 33%. Example in Bédarieux, in Hérault.
It's Christmas before time in Hérault. Several rural communities in the department have launched a major operation in the run-up to the holidays. Residents can obtain gift vouchers: for two 10 euro vouchers purchased, a third is offered. They must be spent in small businesses. “It's pleasant, especially for the neighborhood's merchants. But we also benefit a little from it.”confides a man.
The objective is to fight against large shopping centers. In the town of Bédarieux, several stores have lowered their curtains. Thanks to this boost, some are seeing new customers arrive. “Some are used to coming at this time, with this check system“, confides Michel Jallan, a trader. 4,500 checks were issued. The communities invested 15,000 euros in the operation.
