The body of the young 19-year-old Villerestois who disappeared during the night from Friday to Saturday was found this Monday morning in the Loire, near the Coteau bridge, confirms the public prosecutor of Roanne in a press release.
“The procedure will continue as part of a search for the causes of death. The elements established to date, in particular by cross-referencing the victim's telephone activity and the use of urban video surveillance, as well as the marking of the dog specialized in searching for people, are suggestive of a fall in the Loire from the deck of the bridge linking Roanne to Coteau, shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday November 16.
“No element suggestive of the intervention of a third party has been noted during the investigation to date,” continues the magistrate.
Nothing suggests, for the moment, the intervention of a third party
The disappearance of the young man, residing in Villerest near Roanne, was reported to the gendarmerie on Saturday morning.
Significant gendarmerie and national police resources were therefore deployed. As he was last seen on Saturday around 1:30 a.m., near the night establishment Le Club 50 in Roanne, the search began in this area. A dog specialized in searching for people marked in the Place de la Loire area on Saturday afternoon. And the use of images from video surveillance cameras established that the young man had been there.
The searches then focused on the banks of the river, below the square. Gendarmerie divers from Valence and Aix-les-Bains probed the river near the Loire bridge during the day on Sunday.
And a national police drone was also used to fly over the area.
The search resumed this Monday morning, and it was mid-morning that divers discovered a body. Which turned out to be that of the young Villerestois who had disappeared.
