“I always wondered.” : the impact that this family secret could have had on Dave's mother
This isn't the first time Dave has recalled these painful memories. He had already spoken about this subject in spring 2016 in the columns of France Sunday. During this interview, he briefly mentioned the death of his mother, whom he helped to leave through euthanasia in 1990, a few months after the death of his father. The singer then considered it possible that his mother had developed the illness she suffered after her husband's infidelity and their resulting separation: “I always wondered if she hadn’t developed cancer because of his disappearance. Because she never stopped loving him. She never started her life again.”
