The French returned the favor
Visibly embarrassed by these whistles coming down from the aisles of Milan, the Italian management applauded La Marseillaise before singing Brothers of Italy. The French supporters who made the trip to San Siro also returned the favor to the Italians, by also whistling their anthem.

On the field, the Blues took the upper hand by winning over Italy (1-3). A double from Adrien Rabiot and a free kick from Lucas Digne returned with the assistance of Guglielmo Vicario allowed France to finish first in their Nations League group.
