“25 kilos!” 3 days to empty your bag”, the new eco-friendly show from France 5 arrives this evening

Do you know your daily carbon footprint? In , we release on average 25 kilos of CO2 per person per day. This is the equivalent of 115 km traveled in a thermal car. These 115 km, the actor Gil Alma (Our dear neighbors, Caesar Wagner ) decided to cross them while trying to emit as little CO2 as possible. A way to introduce viewers to different alternatives for traveling without polluting.

Soft mobility in the spotlight

To accomplish this expedition spread over three days, the adventurer takes on board his fellow comedian Benoît Joubert. Everything seems to oppose them: the first is vegetarian, sporty, lover of nature and full of good will, the second is the archetype of the city dweller and grumpy on the edges, while remaining a bon vivant who knows how to have fun. What was his surprise when Gil explained this project to him, specifying at the very end that their hiking bags would not be filled with clothes but with… stones. 25 kilos more precisely. The equivalent of our daily carbon footprint, if you followed correctly. The more CO2 they save during their journey, compared to traveling in a thermal car, the more weight they will be able to remove from their respective bag. Any gentle locomotion is therefore good to take: walking, cycling, horseback riding, carpooling, boating and even rail cycling.

Responsible tourism across our regions

First destination: the Cathar country in Aude (), a territory full of medieval castles. It is in this Occitan setting that the two traveling companions set out for their first challenge. Along the way, they meet several local players – including a winemaker, pepper producers and the world champion cassoulet recipe – who introduce them to various artisanal working environments. Everyone is committed to eco-responsible and regional conduct of their activities. The second episode opens with a new adventure, this time in Comminges country in the Pyrenees. Will they one day reach the west of France? Only the future will tell us.
