what we know about the 757 reports the Pentagon received between 2023 and 2024

According to a report published Thursday, November 14, the Pentagon listed 757 UFO reports between May 2023 and June 2024.

With their eyes glued to the sky, hundreds of people believed they saw an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO), between May 2023 and June 2024. This Thursday, November 14, the Pentagon published a report showing 757 reports received from around the world on this period, including 21 which deserve a more in-depth analysis.

In 174 cases, however, the Ministry of Defense was able to demonstrate that they were simple “prosaic objects”: balloons in 70% of cases but also birds, drones, planes and even satellites. 243 other reports should fall into this same category.

Reports from sensitive areas

Overall, as the Independent points out, the Pentagon believes that the majority of UFO sightings are linked to “misidentification of ordinary phenomena and objects.” Elon Musk's Starlink satellites, for example, are often the subject of reports.

All alerts were, however, taken seriously, particularly because some of these alleged UFOs were observed near sensitive national security zones, including 81 coming from sites of American military operations.

392 reports were issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) itself, only one of which mentions a possible flight safety problem. It concerned a crew who “reported brushing against a cylindrical object while flying over the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of New York.”
