2024 MotoGP Barcelona Grand Prix, race summary

After a great collaboration, Jorge Martin, new world champion, will leave Pramac to join Aprilia. This independent team also leaves Ducati to enter Yamaha.

The results will no longer be the same for Pramac and for Martin. He who failed to convince Ducati to join the official team, is thumbing his nose at them by seizing this title.

Francesco Bagnaia wins after a race led since the start of the Grand Prix. He is ahead of Marc Marquez who has never managed to attempt an overtake and Jorge Martin, new world champion!

Espargaro gives up 4th place to Alex Marquez on the straight and fails to overtake again.

It's the last round of the season! Jorge Martin will go for the title!

Overtaken in the straight by Alex Marquez, Espargaro regains the advantage in turn 3 then maintains it in turn 5.

Alex Rins failed to perform his long lap well. He is therefore penalized with a double long lap. He was in 20th position.

Alex Marquez takes a shorter turn at each turn, tries to overtake in a straight line but Espargaro brakes very late to maintain the advantage.

Threatened by Alex Marquez, Aleix Espargaro defended perfectly to maintain his 4th place.

There are only five rounds left. Jorge Martin seems calm and has no pressure.

For having cut the chicane at turn 2, Alex Rins inherited a long lap because he did not lose enough pace.

Jorge Martin is in management. He is now 2 seconds behind Marc Marquez. The Martinator must last 8 more turns.

Pecco Bagnaia begins to escape and takes a few tenths ahead of Marc Marquez.

All the pilots follow each other and no one is able to attack.

For the moment, we are dealing with a status quo: Bagnaia is in the lead with Marquez just behind. At 1.4s, Jorge Martin is quietly installed in third place. Aleix Espargaro is 1 second behind Martin. Behind we find Alex Marquez, Acosta, Bastianini, Morbidelli, Binder and Bezzecchi.

Quartararo is 11th, Zarco is 15th.

Jorge Martin is now running within the lead time. He does not catch up with the leading duo but now has a lead of 5 tenths over Aleix Espargaro.

Marc Marquez sticks to Bagnaia's coattails. The Italian fails to escape.

Bastianini cuts the first chicane and passes Alex Marquez, Acosta and comes out fighting with Morbidelli.

Another fall for Joan Mir who was in 12th position.

Alex Marquez muscularly overtakes Pedro Acosta at the end of the straight. He therefore takes 6th place.

Jorge Martin concedes a little ground to the Bagnaia / Marquez duo.

The skirmish between Espargaro and Bastianini continues. The Aprilia rider returns to the end of the straight, leaning on the Ducati rider.

1:40,088. This is the time of the best lap achieved by Marquez this time. Bagnaia is not peaceful.

Enea Bastianini takes the 4th place from Aleix Espargaro as the next secteur.

In turn 5, Aleix Espargaro passed Bastianini to gain 4th place.

Marc Marquez sets the fastest lap in the race. For the moment, he is not letting go of Bagnaia.

At the end of the straight, Marc Marquez overtakes Jorge Martin and takes second place.

Bagnaia negotiates his departure very well and maintains the lead ahead of Jorge Martin who makes a superb start. Marc Marquez retains 3rd place just ahead of Bastianini.

Yesterday, during the sprint race, Francesco Bagnaia won ahead of Bastianini and Martin. This allowed him to regain 5 points in the general classification but the gap is still 19 points between him and Jorge Martin, leader of the classification.

Like yesterday, Bagnaia will start in pole position ahead of Aleix Espargaro and Marc Marquez. Jorge Martin only set the 4th time, on the second row while Bastianini only set the 8th time.
