Lhe A1 motorway was completely closed to traffic, in the - direction, this Saturday, November 16, after an accident on the Roberval viaduct. The alert was given around 6:45 a.m. this Friday morning. The reopening took place late in the afternoon, around 4:30 p.m.

According to initial findings, a heavy goods vehicle and a car collided on the emergency lane of the viaduct, at PK 54. The car, which had broken down, was parked on the lane. Her driver had left her to head towards the call terminal. For a reason that is still unclear, the truck hit the car and caught fire.

Numerous emergency services were mobilized to put out this fire, caused by an oil leak, which was brought under control at the end of the morning. The intervention, however, lasted several hours.

No injuries were reported.

Environmental fears lifted

Although very impressive – the flames were visible from afar – no damage to the environment was noted.

After the emergency services intervened, Sanef teams were mobilized to the disaster area, in order to avoid any risk for the safety of users.

Traffic disruptions may have annoyed motorists in the area. Between 6:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., in the Lille-Paris direction, the exit of all vehicles was compulsory at Chevrières (exit 9). Diversions have been put in place to return to the motorway at Senlis (exit 8).
