Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has expressed skepticism regarding Paul Pogba’s potential return to the Premier League and has urged Arsenal to reconsider any plans to sign the French midfielder.
Pogba, who is set to return to the playing field after serving a doping ban, finds himself at a crossroads following the termination of his contract with Juventus. As he looks for a new club, the Gunners have been linked with the 2018 World Cup winner, a player once touted as a transformative force during his initial spell at Juventus. This reputation led Manchester United to shell out a then club-record fee to secure his services, but Pogba’s time at Old Trafford was marked by inconsistency.
Gallas, speaking to Genting Casino, voiced his concerns about Pogba’s fitness and longevity, particularly at the age of 31. He stated, “Can Paul Pogba go back to the Premier League? I don’t think so, because the Premier League is very intense. We know Pogba can’t play for a very long time. He will show desire to play and probably train very hard, but it’s tough for him to play a lot of games in the Premier League for a whole season. Clubs like Arsenal will think twice before signing Pogba. If you buy Pogba, there’s a guarantee that he won’t last the whole season without an injury, especially at 31 years old.”

Despite his current situation, Pogba remains optimistic about reclaiming the level of performance that earned him individual honors in the past. His disappointing second term at Juventus has not diminished the belief among some that he can resurrect his career.
Emmanuel Petit, a former Arsenal star who tasted double success in the 1990s, believes Pogba could be a beneficial signing. However, he also cast doubt on whether the Gunners would have the courage to pursue such a high-profile player. Petit remarked to Instant Casino, “I’m not sure big clubs like Arsenal actually have the guts to sign a player like Pogba. Remember what happened with some top players that join Arsenal; most of them have been failures. I’m also uncertain whether signing Paul Pogba aligns with Arsenal’s current philosophy, especially after Edu’s departure. It’s a gamble, but I’m not confident that Arsenal will take it. However, I am pretty sure that some clubs in France will be very interested in him.”
