After his defeat against Jake Paul by unanimous decision (80-72, 79-73, 79-73) this Saturday morning, the American legend admitted that he could continue to get into the ring and Iron Mike spoke about who could be his future opponent.
A suffering knee, back problems… At 58 years old, Mike Tyson could have afforded one last very lucrative fight against the American influencer turned boxer Jake Paul (11-1), 19 years after retiring. But after his logical and deserved defeat by unanimous decision (80-72, 79-73, 79-73), the youngest champion in heavyweight history has no intention of saying goodbye to the noble art.
At the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas (United States), the legend was asked by Ariel Helwani about his future. Without giving a definitive answer, Tyson would not be against the idea of getting back into the ring, most certainly for a new “money show” (fight where money takes precedence over sporting issues). “My last fight? I don’t know, I don’t think so. It will depend on the situation,” he then replied, before adding: “Who next? Maybe his brother.” Coming to the ring to congratulate his younger brother, Logan Paul (29 years old) also took the opportunity to respond to this call-out. “Son of a bitch, I’m going to kill you Mike,” responded the wrestling and WWE superstar.
“Canelo needs me, he knows where the money is”
At 27 years old, Jake Paul embellishes his record with an eleventh victory against a pretty name. Mike Tyson joins Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley… But fans of the noble art are now (and have been for a long time) asking for an opponent where the sporting issue takes precedence. Questioned in turn by the famous journalist specializing in combat sports Ariel Helwani, the Cleveland native has no intention of stopping his “show money”.
“Everyone wants me. We just had the biggest event, we crashed the site (Netflix), 20 million dollars… Everyone wants to be on my list,” listed Jake Paul, before adding : “Canelo? I talked about him this week, he needs me, so I won't even try to call him, he knows where the money is.”
