Casseroles made in Aisne that cause a commotion on the other side of the Channel? A sale at knockdown prices of products from the Le Creuset brand, from Fresnoy-le-Grand, caused chaos last weekend in a warehouse in Andover in England, reports The Guardian, taken over by the Union.

A long queue

Many fans of the famous cast iron casserole dish and other curious people went bargain hunting in an industrial area in the county of Hampshire in the south of the country.

Outside the warehouse, a queue of several hundred people formed. Some customers had to wait several hours before hoping to find a discounted product.

The sale was so popular that local police were called in to deal with the hundreds of cars parked on the side of the road, adds the Telegraph.

Real success on TikTok

Le Creuset cast iron casseroles were born in Fresnoy-le-Grand to the north of Aisne in 1925 and have since crossed borders. The brand, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years. On the social network TikTok, publications with the hashtag #LeCreuset accumulated last January 370 million viewsaccording to the specialized newsletter Hupster.

The Axon brand also has renowned “muses”. Taylor Swift herself appeared alongside the famous casserole in a documentary broadcast on Netflix.
