With just moments to go until the biggest fight of the year, many viewers have been unable to watch live on Netflix.
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s massive showdown has drawn a 75,000 crowd to AT&T Stadium in Dallas, but those lucky attendees may be the only ones who get to watch live. Some fans on social media have been outraged as the stream crashed, leading to many being unable to watch the feed.
The fight is expected to be the biggest live-streamed sporting event in history, and is the broadcaster’s first step into the boxing world. But viewers were left struggling to watch as it appeared that the streamer crashed before the co-main event was set to begin.

Fans have taken to social media to air their grievances with the Netflix stream for Paul vs Tyson after messages appeared indicating that there were connectivity issues. It is unclear what caused the issue, but the streamer is not used to airing live television, and the event is one of the biggest of the year.
With moments to go until the co-main event between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, the streamer appeared to start experiencing errors. X was abuzz with messages from fans trying to watch, but forced to look at an error screen or a buffering wheel.
A Netflix spokesperson declined to comment when asked for an update by Bloody Elbow on the ground in Dallas. It is unclear how many viewers were effected by the outages and how long they lasted.
Website ‘downdetector’ reported thousands of outages around the world, although an official number is unknown.
One message simply read: “Netflix has encountered an error, retrying in 14 seconds.” The code for such a problem was “NW-2-5”. And fans were enraged, particularly after Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed interest in bringing the NFL to Netflix in future moments earlier.
One commenter wrote: “Jerry Jones saying Netflix is a huge part of the NFL’s future into a mic that doesn’t work and then less than a minute later the stream goes down.”

After an intense build-up, it became clear that Jake Paul and Mike Tyson were heading for heavyweight numbers on streaming and at the box office. Over 750,000 concurrent viewers watched the prelims live on YouTube, with tens of millions expected on Netflix.
