At the head of a delegation, the President of the constitutional and electoral chamber of the Supreme Court of the Union of the Comoros was received in audience, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, by the President of the Constitutional Court of Benin, Professor Cossi Dorothé Sossa.
“We came to visit President Sossa as part of the exchanges of legal cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Benin and the electoral constitutional section of the Union of the Comoros,” confided the President of the constitutional and electoral chamber of the Court Supreme President of the Union of the Comoros Rafiki Mohamed at the end of the hearing. The electoral process has already started in the Comoros. The current phase is that of deployment of candidatures for the elections of deputies, that is to say that candidatures are open from November 1st until the next 10th.
“After November 10, it is the phase of the appeal procedure on the provisional lists and then we will make the final lists before the electoral campaign. We discussed all this with the President of the Constitutional Court of Benin, especially with regard to the settlement of appeals and we are very delighted with the responses received on this issue,” he informs.
According to Rafiki Mohamed “with the advice received, the elections will take place in an atmosphere of calm, serenity as we wish, without violence, without damage”. In the Comoros, the legislative and municipal elections will take place in January and February 2025, i.e. on Sunday January 12 for the first round of the legislative elections and the second on February 16, at the same time as the municipal elections.
The President of the administrative section of the Supreme Court of the Union of the Comoros Abdou Said also took part in the hearing.
