A tropical storm heavily saturated with humidity. Forecast.

A devastating storm

According to forecasts from the American National Hurricane Center, tropical storm Sara is expected to pass Honduras. This cyclone is unique in that it moves very slowly and draws considerable energy from both the heat of the water and the atmosphere saturated with humidity. Sara therefore has the potential to wreak havoc not because of its violent winds, but from the torrential rain that it is expected to dump in certain particularly vulnerable regions.

Towards Mexico

Sara should follow a trajectory towards the Yucatan and then head into the Gulf. After making landfall, the storm would lose intensity. It therefore risks being downgraded to a tropical depression. The water remains warm in this region, but Sara could face less favorable conditions during her journey once in the Gulf of Mexico basin. The situation will be monitored at the beginning of next week.

SARA2

Cyclone in slow motion

In the meantime, Sara will definitely cause trouble. It moves at the speed of a turtle between now and Sunday. It has the potential to dump astronomical amounts of rain in Honduras. This region is vulnerable to landslides and flooding. All the energy and precipitable water from this system has the potential to generate up to 700 mm of rain in places.

SARA3

Disaster predicted

Sara is extremely full of moisture. By Saturday, the tropical storm could cause a disaster due to heavy rain forecast. Western Honduras risks experiencing a real disaster, especially along the coast.
