France Inter soars, RTL plummets and Europe 1 rides the “Praud/Hanouna” effect

Inter continues to consolidate its throne: the most listened to radio station in France – since 2019! – in fact (largely) retains its first place and even beats its historical record for daily listeners, according to figures published by Médiamétrie this Thursday, November 14, 2024 and relayed by PureMédias.

Public radio headed by Adèle Van Reeth has 7.20 million listeners, meaning it managed to recruit 265,000 more than in January-March 2024. An all the more remarkable performance that the radio medium is no longer followed “only” by 37.85 million French people (i.e. 295,000 fewer over one year).

France Info grid RTL and Europe 1 are recruiting en masse

Follow France Info, listened to on average by 4.97 million daily listeners, which allows it to take second place on RTL: despite recent changes to its program schedule (Yves Calvi hosts RTL Evening and Thomas Sotto in the morning), private radio is now the 3rd station in France with 4.9 million listeners (-307,000 over one year).

But it is Europe 1 which is doing the best, notes PureMédias, which attributes to the arrivals of Pascal Praud (in the morning) and Cyril Hanouna (in the afternoon) the “comeback” of the general station: pointing in ninth position in the “ranking of channels for the September-October 2024 wave”, it recorded the highest recruitment rate of the year (with Nostalgie) with + 347,000 listeners.
