If Atlético is experiencing a moment of technical decline within the four lines, one name is going against this path. This is goalkeeper Everson, who is going through a great phase and has been putting together fundamental performances for the Minas Gerais team in recent weeks.
On Wednesday night (11/13), Everson was once again decisive in Atlético's draw with Flamengo (0-0), at Maracanã, in the 33rd round of Series A of the Brazilian Championship. With highly difficult interventions and a penalty save, the archer was once again Galo's best player in a match.
In the 35th minute of the first half of the match, Everson saved a penalty taken by Flamengo defender David Luiz. He jumped to the left side and intervened at mid-height in the move.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper had already played great matches in recent weeks – such as against River Plate, in Argentina, and against Flamengo itself, at Arena MRV. With refined reflexes and impressiveness in one-on-one situations, he made saves that resonated throughout the country and became reasons for praise from fans on social media.
Everson for Atlético
Everson has been Atlético's goalkeeper since September 2020, when he left Santos. The athlete has already played 271 matches with the black and white shirt, having won four Minas Gerais Championships (2021 to 2024), one Brazilian Championship (2021), one Brazilian Cup (2021) and one Brazilian Super Cup (2022) as an important figure in the cast.
The archer has a contract with Galo until December 2025 and, naturally, arouses the interest of some elite teams in national football. The Minas Gerais club, however, treats the renewal of Everson's contract as a priority.
