Weekly box office: The heart of L’Amour ouf still beats

Studiocanal's romance slows down very little, and remains at the top of a ranking dominated by continuations.

Love phew continues its fantastic ride with 703,000 new entries (-19%), and a cumulative 3.7 million (M) in four weeks. He is ahead by a few tens of thousands of tickets Deadpool & Wolverinebecoming the sixth biggest hit of 2024. Before him stand Dune 2 (4.2 M) and Despicable Me 4 (4.5 M), which were respectively at 3.4 M and 3.2 M at the same stage. Furthermore, with 52 entries per session (e/s), Love phew obtains the sixth best average for a film in the fourth week since 2021, ahead of the 51 e/s of Super Mario Bros. The Movie and behind the 63 e/s of Shaun the Sheep's Keeping Up with Christmas (whose attendance had jumped as the Christmas holidays approached).

Mr Aznavour only drops very little (-10%) and achieves 410,000 entries for 31 e/s. Now at 1.4 million tickets, the biopic is getting closer to 1.5 million Retirement home 2 to become the fifth biggest French success of 2024.

Juror #2 has the respondent. Clint Eastwood's legal drama sold 381,000 tickets in its second week (-16%), and totaled 835,000. It is ahead of the latest production by another cinema veteran, Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese, which was at 741,000 tickets at the same stage (cumulative at 1.2M). Juror #2which has a very good average of 36 fps, should normally be the 15th Clint Eastwood film to exceed one million admissions in .

373,000 entries for Venom : The Last Dance which, despite its 43% drop, crossed the million tickets mark (1.1 million to be precise); it is the 27th film to reach this milestone this year. Furthermore, it sails in approximately the same passage times as the previous part, Venom : Let There Be Carnagewhich also accounted for 1.1 M at the same stage (cumulative at 1.6 M).

First novelty of the week, Louise Violet attracts 227,000 spectators (321,000 with AP) for 21 e/s. In February 2023, Simple ThingsÉric Besnard's previous film, had 212,000 admissions for 21 e/s at the end of its first week (cumulative 490,000).

With 201,000 entries, Mylène Farmer – Nevermore – The Film breaks several records, and attracts 270 spectators per session. Just behind is placed The Substance which, with 200,000 tickets for 31 e/s, achieved the best performance at the new releases session. Coralie Fargeat's film, winner of the Screenplay Prize at the last Film Festival, got off to a much better start than Titaniumwhich completed its first week with 88,000 tickets for 18 e/s in 2021 (cumulative 306,000); As a reminder, Julia Ducournau's film won the prestigious award a few days after its theatrical release. The Palm 2024, Anora drop of 29% for 150,000 entries, and a cumulative total of 365,000; it is, for the moment, above the passage times of Without filterpalmed in 2022, which was at 285,000 at the same stage (cumulative at 569,000).

In the rest of the ranking, Flow, the cat who was no longer afraid of water achieves 100,000 entries (+6%) and accumulates 251,000; 52,000 for Get to work! which also obtains a very good average of 29 e/s; 51,000 for The Story of Souleymane (-18%) which totals 447,000; 44,000 for Le Comte de Monte Cristo which exceeds 9.3 million.

In total, the weekly top 20 garnered 3.4 million entries, a drop of 12% compared to last week, and 2% compared to the same period last year. Note a median of 109,000 tickets, much higher than last year's 75,000; a sign of attendance driven by numerous films… and therefore numerous audiences.
