Deadpool and Wolverine fell to François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos! Always at the top of the French box office, without ever having trembled for its leading position, Love phew has now attracted 3,739,959 spectators. This is not Gilles Lellouche's record as a director, still held by the 4,302,062 of the Great Bath, but enough to surpass the blockbuster signed Marvel Studios.
Sixth biggest hit of 2024 in theaters, L'Amour ouf should not stop there. Gladiator II could seriously slow down its progress, but the feature film seems well on its way to knocking out Dune 2, or even Despicable Me 4, and placing itself at the foot of the podium. Behind Vice Versa 2 which seems a good distance away with its 8,426,571 entries.
Just behind, a three-way fight pitted Venom – The Last Dance, Mr Aznavour et Juror #2. Fourth at the end of the weekend, the latter gained a place at the finish to climb on the third step of the podium and prove Clint Eastwood's popularity in France, while this opus became his fifteenth in as a director to reach the milestone of one million admissions.
And the twenty-seventh of 2024, closely followed by Venom – The Last Dance, twenty-eighth millionaire of the year in French theaters. At the same time as the third opus of the trilogy to reach this milestone, even if it will be complicated to reach the record still held by the first feature film, released in 2018.
