Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa) leads the race. At 7 a.m., the skipper was only 5.91 nautical miles ahead of 's Charlie Dalin. Sam Goodchild (Vulnerable) completed the leading trio 15 miles behind the first, while the front of the fleet began to follow the coast of North Africa towards the Canaries, although heading a little to the west .

The downwind descent along the Portuguese coast was calmer than the previous night and the passage of Cape Finistère. And it was early in the morning that Richomme took the lead thanks to an option a little further west.

Having posted the highest average speed over 24 hours (20.96 knots), the Breton Nicolas Lunven (Holcim-PRB) moved up to seventh place in the ranking (60 miles from the lead), even though he experienced some little troubles on board, “a little joke that lasted a few hours“, in his words.

I have a piece that got caught under the starboard rudder pedal and therefore caused the rudder to come loose from its housing, it tore it off a little. I realized this quite quickly because, immediately, the boat was no longer steerable. […] As the starboard rudder was no longer operational it took me a little time to recover the situation!“, the sailor told the organizers on the radio.

To repair, he had to lower the sails and put “astride the rear dashboard“. “It wasn't the most comfortable because there were still 20-25 knots and a bit of sea!“, he stressed.

Manchois Louis Duc occupies 24th position, 206.32 miles behind Yoann Richomme. Manuel Cousin is in 38th place (327.82 miles from first).
