The forecast for the Killeen-Fort Cavazos area for the upcoming week once again calls for sunshine and daytime temperatures in the upper 70s with lows in the mid 50s, according to the National Weather Service-Fort Worth.
“There may be some rain in the forecast for the following week,” Meteorologist Sarah Barnes said Sunday. “But, it’s really too far away to say for certain.”
With storm clouds covering part of the area over the weekend, some residents reported short downbursts of rain.
“It seems like these downbursts either missed the weather station or were so slight they were unmeasurable,” Barnes said.
According to the website at weather.gov, Killeen has had just over one-half an inch of rain since Nov. 1. The last measurable rain was on Thursday with .12 inches reported. Barnes said there was a trace amount reported on Friday; however, a trace is equal to less than 1/100th of an inch.
Following a check of conditions in Bell County, there has been no change and the county is still listed as having moderate drought conditions.
After surveying the neighborhoods in Killeen on Sunday, there were a number of homes which were watering green lawns and green shrubs. Evidence of autumn: trees with leaves of orange, gold or yellow, were nowhere to be seen.
Barnes said weather conditions are not the norm for November, however, it is by no means the warmest November on record with an 89 registered in 1955.
