Born in Jerez but with Madrid blood, Raphinha has made headlines with a sarcastic message regarding the controversial offside decision that disallowed Robert Lewandowski’s goal. This incident occurred after Barcelona’s second league defeat this season, a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad at Anoeta.
After the match, the Brazilian forward used social media to share his thoughts in a playful but controversial way. Raphinha posted several photos, tagging his teammate Lewandowski, accompanied by two emojis: one laughing and the other expressing disbelief.
In his social media post, Raphinha included the VAR image illustrating Lewandowski’s offside, which disallowed his 12th-minute goal against Real Sociedad last Sunday. In addition, he shared a shocking photo of Aguerd next to the Barcelona forward, implying to his followers that, in his opinion, there was no offside.

Adding further irony, Raphinha posted an image of some giant shoes, humorously suggesting that they were the size of his teammate’s feet at the time the offside was called.
The fact is that the semi-automatic offside technology determined that Lewandowski was in an offside position compared to Aguerd, which resulted in the Polish striker’s goal being disallowed. This was a controversial decision given the situation of the match and the images provided by the VAR; However, it does not reflect a failure in the technology, as official sources clarified in recent hours. This semi-automatic offside system has worked perfectly in Barcelona’s favor this season, as seen in last week’s derby against Espanyol, where two goals were disallowed due to marginal offside calls.

In the post-match press conference at Anoeta, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed his frustration over the team’s defeat. He was particularly unhappy after the club’s second defeat in La Liga this season and commented on the referee’s decision to disallow Lewandowski’s goal with the help of VAR.
“Today was not our day. We must accept this result; there are no excuses. It is clear what we saw. We did not create enough chances, and they were more decisive. In the final third, we also made bad decisions,” began Hansi Flick, addressing the media.
“I told him it was a bad decision, and I made it clear to him,” said the German coach in reference to Lewandowski’s disallowed goal.
Teammate Iñaki Peña also shared his thoughts in the mixed zone about the disallowed goal against Lewandowski: “There is possibly an error in Robert Lewandowski’s marking. If it is such a clear and serious error, we hope that La Liga takes action because that is the purpose of VAR and the lines they draw. If it is proven to be an error, let them investigate and act on it.”
