Barca could have been ahead

The Reale Arena in San Sebastian has not been an easy venue for FC Barcelona in recent years. Real Sociedad has often been a difficult opponent, and although they did not win against Barca in eight previous home matches, it could be assumed that the Catalans would not be comfortable this time either.

The very beginning of the match was not particularly active for the guests. Hansi Flick’s players were effectively stopped by Real Sociedad’s defenders, which resulted in a small number of goal-scoring opportunities. This changed in the 13th minute.

Frenkie de Jong took a shot after a nice individual action, but it hit Robert Lewandowski. However, the Pole realized the area and waited for the ball to fall, then beat the Real Sociedad goalkeeper with a strong shot. So he was happy about the goal for a while.

Lewandowski’s offside is minimal

However, the referees found the position to be offside. The replays showed no violation of the rules – it seemed that the referees had made a mistake and canceled the goal incorrectly. Only when the line was drawn did the decision turn out to be the right one. The Pole “burned” literally by the toe of his shoe.
