During the debrief of the last bonus of the Star Academy, this Sunday, November 10, Marlène Schaff was not kind to the candidates whose medley on two songs by Beyoncé was a failure. And she went hard.
On Friday, November 8, Marlène Schaff gave an insight into her disappointment. After the performance of Ebony, Marguerite, Maïa, Marine, Julie and Emma on a medley of two songs by Beyoncé, the stage expression teacher simply noted: “It's perhaps easier to be a diva than a showgirl, because to be one you have to be very precise, and for me it lacked a little bit of precision.” This Sunday, November 10, during the debrief in the presence of Julien Doré, Marlène Schaff was much more straightforward with the six academics. “It’s not acceptable to me what you girls did there,” she told them. “Really, you weren’t together so much! I don’t understand how such a performance is possible with the level that you all have.”
The girls of the Star Academy did not live up to the medley for Marlène Schaff
The first criticism that the teacher wanted to make to the students was their lack of understanding of the title. Halo. “You know what a halo ? It's the title of the song, you've said it 15 times, not one of them pronounces it correctly. That alone started it, it stuffed me. I said to myself: 'I don't understand, I've told them 5,000 times that we have to translate the texts, that we have to listen to them, that we have to pronounce things correctly.'” The lack of listening between the six young women has also made Marlène Schaff's hair stand on end. “The sentences are the competition for the one who will swing the most. […] It really is: 'I make my sentence. Bim. To you. I don't look, I don't do anything.'” Even the attitude of the singers left the teacher stunned. The students had to hold a pose, hand on hip: “It's not fair, I put my hand there and I sing my song. Live the thing! There's no excuse! There's no I have heels, I have things or things!”
A completely failed choreography on Single Ladies
But the performance doesn't stop there, and neither do the negative feedback. After interpreting Halothe six candidates had to sing Single Ladies. A punchier track, to which they were also asked to dance. Viewers and teachers witnessed a disjointed and completely unsynchronized choreography, in addition to a few wrong notes. “Have you girls rehearsed the dance in front of a mirror?”asked Marlène Schaff during the debrief. The candidates, disappointed with their performance, assured that they had practiced a lot.
